It's only natural that we spend a great deal of time here talking about the proper care and maintenance of swimming pools but, every once in a while it's nice to step back and think about the actual pleasures of having a pool. Here's one that you might not have thought of: At least half the fun of having the pool happens not when you're in the water, but near it. Not swimming, but simply lounging around on
all the patio furniture.
There's something about being close to water that just loosens people up. Of course, there's also something about having a pool on a beautiful warm day that makes you want to sip on your favorite frosty beverage, which, depending on your choice, can also have a way of loosening you up. Still, whether you're drinking an elaborate fruity cocktail fresh from the blender, or a Budweiser or root beer fresh from the cooler, it's just a delightful way to spend time with friends. It's also, of course, an ideal place to sun yourself or just spend time reading your favorite thrillers or love stories. (We read classics and nonfiction too, sometimes, but Tolstoy and patio furniture just don't mix.)
For all that, there's nothing more pleasant than hanging out by the pool with your favorite people as the day comes to an end. That's what really makes having a nice pool, and patio furniture to go with it, seem truly worthwhile.
