KTVK Arizona Channel 3Poolcare 101 Morning Show - June 5, 2003
The only pool care TV show, featuring pool expert Judd Smith.

Hey there TV3 Viewers.

Does anybody know where spring went? Wow, it got hot fast this year! Like most people, you are probably spending more time out at the pool and less time in the hot kitchen? If so, you may have noticed that scummy bathtub ring around the pool tile. Where does it come from? The ring happens as water evaporates. It also forms with hard water and improper chemical maintenance. But even in the best of circumstances, it will eventually become noticeable. So how do we get rid of it? Well there are several chemicals and gels on the market that claim to remove calcium, but I have yet to see a product that works very well. Most will remove scum and slime, but the hard, gritty stuff like calcium and minerals is not easy to remove. If you use a pumice stone (and lots of elbow grease and time) you can remove the line. Just make sure the stone doesn’t scratch the tile.

Another way to do it is using our glass beading method as shown on Today’s Good Morning Arizona.

If your tile or waterfall boulders are white and crusty, we can make it look great again with our professional glass beading service. We shoot small glass beads at the tile to remove the calcium ring. The glass beads scour the calcium away and then we clean up the loose particles with our portable vacuum. If you maintain your chemicals properly and monitor your water hardness, the ring will not re-appear for a long time. (I had my tile cleaned 4 years ago, and I still don’t have a ring).

If you would like free estimate give us a call or use our contact page on this website.

Thanks for watching. We will see you again on July 3rd with our water safety segment.
